Quebec Nickel (CSE:QNI) has announced it has restarted exploration at its Ducros project near Val-d’Or, Québec.

In a news release, the company said it had to halt operations because of the wildfires in Québec prompted an emergency order issued from the Québec Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts.

Prior to Québec Nickel having to halt operations, exploration drilling focused on testing targets that require winter conditions to access and drill, notably in the central and western portions of the Ducros claims.

Exploration work has now resumed at the highly prospective Fortin Sill Zone where ground conditions allow for year-round access.

“Although we are excited to get back to work, we wouldn’t be able to do so without the tireless efforts of the firefighters, first responders and local community members who fought the fires this summer,” Richard Dufresne, interim CEO of Québec Nickel, said in a statement. “We’d like to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to everyone that helped make our return to work possible.”

Drilling Fortin Sill is focused on exploring for additional nickel-copper-platinum group element sulphides down plunge and along strike of the main outcropping mineralized zone. Québec Nickel said up to 5,000 metres of drilling is planned.

Québec Nickel is a mineral exploration company focused on acquiring, exploring and developing critical metals projects in Quebec.

Shares of Québec Nickel are up 28.57 per cent to C$0.04 as of 12:29 p.m. ET.
