Red Light Holland (CSE:TRIP) has commenced the development of legal psychedelic truffle microdosing packs in partnership with McSmart.

Based in Ontario, Red Light Holland is focused on the production, growth and sale of psilocybin magic truffles for the Dutch recreational market.

According to the country’s laws, magic truffles are legal for consumption whereas magic mushrooms are not, despite being effectively the same product.

While psychedelic compounds are primarily used to achieve some sort of high, a growing trend in microdosing has been established over the last few years.

Microdosing is the practice of consuming very low, sub-hallucinogenic doses of a psychedelic substance. In this way, a physical high does not noticeably occur, but secondary benefits may take place over time.

According to today’s announcement, the truffle microdosing packs will be supplied, produced and packaged by McSmart under the Red Light Holland brand. The company will also market the products and stock them in three of its stores.

Todd Shapiro, CEO of Red Light Holland, noted that microdosing has become a significant practice around the world, particularly within California’s Silicon Valley and the art community.

“We are stoked to be one step closer to becoming the world’s first ever publicly-traded company to bring legal and natural microdosing packs to the legal recreational truffles market in the Netherlands.

“This represents an important milestone for Red Light Holland and we are looking forward to getting our legal microdosing products on shelves as soon as possible,” he said.

The two companies expect to form a definitive agreement in due course, with a commercial launch scheduled soon thereafter.

Red Light Holland (TRIP) is up 10.71 per cent and is trading at C$0.16 per share at 11:36am EDT.
