Salesforce (NYSE:CRM) reported record second-quarter fiscal 2027 results while unveiling a major strategic partnership with Anthropic, highlighting the company’s accelerating push to dominate the emerging market for enterprise artificial intelligence.

The cloud software giant reported revenue of US$11.3 billion for the quarter ended July 31, 2026, an increase of 11 per cent year over year, with subscription and support revenue climbing to US$10.8 billion. The results were boosted in part by Salesforce’s acquisition of Informatica, which contributed US$456 million in revenue during the quarter.

Net income surged as Salesforce continued to improve profitability. GAAP diluted earnings per share reached US$4.29, up 119 per cent from a year earlier, while non-GAAP earnings per share climbed 103 per cent to US$5.90. Operating cash flow rose 71 per cent to US$1.3 billion, while free cash flow increased 81 per cent to US$1.1 billion.

The company also reported strong future demand indicators. Current remaining performance obligations (cRPO), a key measure of contracted revenue yet to be recognized, reached US$33.5 billion, up 14 per cent year over year, while total remaining performance obligations grew to US$66.3 billion.

“AI is delivering value across every layer of our platform. We’re seeing incredible demand for our AI and data products, with ARR about to cross US$4 billion,” Salesforce’s CEO, Marc Benioff said in a news statement. “And with AIforce, our trusted enterprise harness, we’re unlocking the data, workflows, business logic, actions, and governance inside Salesforce and making it available to every agent, model, and interface. This is how we are turning AI into customer success at unprecedented scale.”

Agentforce becomes major growth driver

A significant portion of Salesforce’s momentum came from its AI portfolio, particularly Agentforce and Data 360.

Combined annual recurring revenue from Agentforce and Data 360 climbed to nearly US$3.9 billion, representing growth of more than 210 per cent year over year. Agentforce alone surpassed US$1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue, growing more than 240 per cent compared with the previous year.

Salesforce said it has now delivered 7 billion Agentic Work Units (AWUs) across Agentforce and Slack, including 3.2 billion during the second quarter, a 97 per cent sequential increase.

Meanwhile, Slack recorded its fastest quarterly net new annual order value growth since Salesforce acquired the collaboration platform, with Slackbot usage increasing more than 150 per cent quarter over quarter.

Data 360 also continued expanding rapidly, ingesting 104 trillion records during the quarter, a 355 per cent annual increase, including 82 trillion records through Zero Copy architecture, up 731 per cent year over year.

Salesforce and Anthropic launch “Claudeforce”

Coinciding with its earnings report, Salesforce announced an expanded partnership with AI startup Anthropic called Claudeforce, combining Anthropic’s Claude AI models with Salesforce’s CRM, workflow, and enterprise data infrastructure.

The initiative aims to bring Claude’s reasoning capabilities directly into Salesforce environments while making Salesforce data and workflows available inside Claude.

The first release, known as Salesforce in Claude, introduces a plugin featuring 37 prebuilt sales skills designed to help sellers analyze pipeline health, prepare for customer meetings, review deals, and update opportunities using natural language interactions.

Rather than simply providing access to CRM data, Salesforce said the system can reason over live business context while enforcing enterprise governance and security controls.

“We believe frontier intelligence should be safe, trusted, and deeply capable, which is why the world’s leading businesses turn to Claude for their most important work. Salesforce in Claude brings this same frontier intelligence into the systems where much of the world’s commercial activity happens,” Anthropic’s CEO, Dario Amodei, stated in a media release. “Through this partnership, companies can point Claude at the customer information and business context that they’ve been building in Salesforce for decades, and use it to actually run and grow their businesses.”

Deeper integration across Slack and Agentforce

The partnership extends beyond CRM workflows.

Claude will serve as a core reasoning model within Agentforce, including Agentforce Vibes, Agentforce Coworker, and the Atlas Reasoning Engine. Through Amazon Bedrock, the model will operate inside Salesforce’s Trust Boundary, a capability aimed at customers in highly regulated industries.

Slack will also become a major component of the partnership. Salesforce announced that Claude will become the default model powering Slackbot and Slack AI, helping employees interact with AI directly within the collaboration platform.

According to Salesforce, internal adoption of Slackbot has generated approximately 8.1 million annualized productivity hours, more than doubling quarter over quarter.

The companies also disclosed deeper mutual adoption of their technologies. Salesforce is Anthropic’s preferred CRM platform, while Salesforce plans to provide Claude Enterprise and Claude Code broadly across its workforce as its preferred AI assistant and developer productivity tools.

Outlook raised

Reflecting strong business momentum, Salesforce raised its full-year fiscal 2027 outlook.

The company now expects revenue between US$46.1 billion and US$46.4 billion, representing growth of 11 per cent to 12 per cent year over year. The forecast includes expected contributions from pending acquisitions of Contentful and Fin, which Salesforce expects to close during the third quarter.

Third-quarter revenue is projected to range from US$11.42 billion to US$11.5 billion, with cRPO growth expected to remain around 14 per cent.

Salesforce also maintained its full-year non-GAAP operating margin target of 34.3 per cent and expects operating cash flow and free cash flow growth of approximately 4 per cent to 5 per cent.

As AI investment continues to accelerate, Salesforce’s latest quarter suggests the company is increasingly positioning itself not just as a CRM vendor, but as a central platform for enterprise AI. With Agentforce growth accelerating and Claude integration bringing new capabilities to customers, Salesforce is betting that the future of business software will be driven by AI agents capable of reasoning, acting, and collaborating directly within enterprise workflows.
