Sirios Resources (SOI) has announced the results of the first ten holes of its Summer 2021 drill program.

The summer program, completed in September on the Cheechoo gold project in Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Quebec, consisted of 34 holes covering over 6,800 metres of drilling.

In the first ten holes, drilling intersected grades as high as 4.90 g/t gold over 22 metres in an intercept that included 71.69 g/t gold over 1 metre.

The company also discovered a new gold zone outside the Cheechoo deposit containing 0.68 g/t gold over 6.5 metres. Sirios plans on following up on this area in its next drill program.

Overall, the first 1,888 metres of drilling confirmed the continuity of gold mineralization along the east-northeast edge of the Cheechoo deposit.

Once all results are received in 2022, Sirios plans to update its mineral resource estimate for the Cheechoo project.

Dominique Doucet, Sirios president and CEO, commented, “I am very pleased with this first batch of drill results, which let us progress positively toward our goal of an updated mineral resources estimate.”

The upcoming mineral resource estimate will form the basis for a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) of the deposit.

Sirios Resources is a Canadian company engaged in the exploration and evaluation of mineral resources. Its projects include Cheechoo, Aquilon, Niska, Solo, and Pontax.

The latest resource estimate for the Cheechoo project, which was completed in 2020, estimated an inferred resource of 2.0 million ounces of gold contained in 93.0 million tonnes of rock at an average grade of 0.65 g/t gold.

Shares in Sirios Resources Inc. (SOI) opened trading at $0.055 per share.
