Shell is buying a 30% stake in Bay du Nord as the TSX climbed, Apple slipped on iPhone 18 Pro demand, and OpenAI rattled the AI trade.

Markets were mostly higher today as easing oil-supply worries and a rebound in tech helped stocks finish a record-setting week on a positive note. The TSX gained 0.89% and the TSX Venture Index rose 1.11%, while the Dow added 0.25% and the FTSE 100 climbed 0.43%. The Nasdaq was the lone decliner, slipping 0.05% as lingering AI trade jitters kept a lid on tech.

Gold rebounded 1.50% as yields eased and the U.S. dollar pulled back, while copper jumped 2.40% and Bitcoin gained 1.54% to just under C$118,000. Oil rose 3.08% despite Trump’s comments on Iran talks easing supply concerns earlier in the week, and a bond market selloff continues to draw warnings from Wall Street.
