The 2023 Vancouver Resource Investment Conference took place at the Vancouver Convention Centre Jan 29th-30th, featuring 300 booths and 100 expert speakers.

At the epicentre of the event, corporate leaders met in the live Deal Room, discussing new ventures and potential partnerships.

Several company representatives chatted with Coreena Robertson to introduce their business and share a little of what they’re up to.

The conference hosted more than 5500 investors listening to experts on six stages across the convention floor.

In our interview with the event host and creator Jay Martin, he stated it was his intention to offer attendees information on both sides of the coin, crafting an event by design offering a balanced scale of opinions, “We tried to paint a broad picture and Take each side of every bet you can imagine. Whether you are bullish or bearish on gold, bearish or bullish on the dollar, or bearish or bullish on the energy trade, represent both sides of the argument. It’s incredibly hard to know what is going to happen in the short term, but if we can play devil’s advocate to every thesis we have, then we have a better chance of setting ousels up for success.“

With a strong focus on gold and silver, some highlights from speakers include Lynette Zang’s ‘The Global Reset Independence Plan’, where she engaged a full room with her talk on purchasing physical gold, explained the true value of gold and entertained with her dollar-blowing gun. Some key points from her session include gold making nominal highs due to June 30th with the transition of the interest rate benchmarks. The currency is falling. As we enter this next recessionary global period, central banks will have no option but to print money.

The Economic Ninja, self-referred to as ‘just a dude with a brohawk and a dream’ and the host of his rapidly growing YouTube channel, hosted his session, ‘‘Taking Advantage of the Next Great Real Estate Crisis’. He stressed the movement for good-hearted humans to buy up real estate before the big banks do and how to use debt with legal entities as well as the importance of having a like-minded social circle.

Former Liberal Leader Christy Clark and Former Premier of Saskatchewan Brad Wall were on the main stage for an intimate fireside chat with Jay Martins. The intimacy and candidness continued for the final talk, ‘Where will all the Smart Money Go in 2023?’, with legends  Frank Giustra, Rick Rule and Grant Williams. Moderating the panel, Jay Martin simply asked them where they were putting their cash. The simple answer is, “We are playing defence.”

Gwen Preston, ‘Resource Maven’, an expert in metals and mining, spoke on several resources, providing some takeaways on Silver. These included investing in value over-growth stocks and looking for companies with re-ratings, advanced companies of stock and under-recognized discoveries.

During the conference, we spoke with several CEOs about their thoughts on various emerging topics, including what they think will go up the most in 2023, gold or lithium? While the majority were hands down with gold, lithium had strong support. New Age Metals CEO Harry Barr likes them both, “I’m a gold guy, and I like gold, and it’s a good place to be, but long-term lithium is in a good spot.” Fury Gold Mines – Bryan Atkinson shared an update on their flagship Eau Clair project in Quebec and believes that percentage-wise, lithium will rise higher than gold.

For the grand finale, the conference wrap-up provided a summary from several of the speakers and engaged investors with the opportunity to ask any questions.

When asked what he wanted investors to leave with, Martin stated, “Perspective and leave challenging their convictions. We get so focused on being right in this industry, and often, that is not in our best interest. It’s far more useful for us to be questioning every decision we make, think critically about every dollar we invest, and never run blindly. “

Conference season is well underway, and the appetite for investor attendance is returning to pre-pandemic levels. For investors that can’t make it to the shows in person, stay tuned for more From The Floor highlights and takeaways from The Market Herald.
