TSX futures were up marginally before Monday’s market open, reflecting uncertainty about Canadian inflation data to be released later today, with most economists expecting a dip from 2.4 per cent in September to 2.1 per cent in October, approaching the Bank of Canada’s preferred 2 per cent rate.

As government officials grapple to paint a clear picture of economic trends, companies on the ground are carrying on in pursuit of value creation, including Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.B), which recently disclosed an investment in Alphabet currently valued at just under US$5 billion, increasing the conglomerate’s exposure to the ongoing AI boom.

In other big tech news, Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos will reportedly serve as co-CEO of Project Prometheus, a new AI startup focused on computers, autos and spacecraft, having raised C$8.7 billion in funding to date and hired a growing team of researchers formerly associated with OpenAI, DeepMind and Meta.
