Barrick Mining (TSX:ABX) will welcome current board member Helen Cai as the company’s new senior executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) on March 1, 2026. Her appointment will follow the departure of Graham Shuttleworth after Barrick announces its year-end results.

Cai, who has served on Barrick’s board since November 2021, brings more than 20 years of financial experience, primarily with Goldman Sachs and China International Capital, spanning equity research, corporate finance, business development, M&A and capital markets.

With a focus on the mining, industrial and technology sectors, she was consistently recognized as a top research analyst by StarMine, AsiaMoney and Institutional Investor, leading numerous award-winning cross-border transactions.

The CFA and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, a graduate of Tsinghua University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, should bring an added level of meticulousness to Barrick’s approach to capital allocation.

Management commentary

“I would like to welcome Helen to the executive team as CFO. Helen’s deep financial expertise and decades of mining sector experience will be invaluable as we focus on driving improved performance and shareholder value,” Mark Hill, Barrick’s chief operating officer and interim president and chief executive officer, said in Monday’s news release. On behalf of everyone at Barrick, I would like to express our sincere thanks to Graham for his leadership and the significant contribution he has made to the company over the past seven years. We wish him well for the future.”

“I am excited to be taking on this new executive role at such a pivotal time in Barrick’s history,” Cai added. “I look forward to partnering with Mark and the leadership team to deliver our strategy and drive sustainable value for our shareholders.”
