Welcome to episode 78 of The 5-Minute Investor Podcast, where Stockhouse columnists Jonathon Brown and me, Trevor Abes, each deliver a 2.5-minute profile on a stock related to recent investment news.

This article is a journalistic opinion piece which has been written based on independent research. It is intended to inform investors and should not be taken as a recommendation or financial advice.

I’m recording solo this week, as Jon enjoys a well-deserved vacation, bringing you a story about Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Canada Investment Summit 2026, scheduled for September 14-15 in Toronto, which is expected to attract high-profile investors, CEOs and business leaders from across the world to jumpstart top domestic projects.

The 167 projects touted in the Summit’s pitch document are dominated by the mining, oil and gas, and renewable energy sectors, plus a healthy dose of defense, data centres and advanced manufacturing, with each project seeking equity or financing partners, as opposed to outright sales, which should keep any concerns about Canadian sovereignty at bay.

Here are Trevor’s show notes for episode 78:
