Key Highlights

  • Viridian Metals reported first assays from southern step-out drilling at its Kraken project in Labrador.
  • Hole VKS26-062 returned 40.8 m at 0.63% copper equivalent, including 15.7 m at 1.09%.
  • Viridian said both holes stayed mineralized to end of hole, with more assays pending.

Viridian Metals Inc. (CSE: VRDN) (OTCQB: VIRMF) reported assay results from two southern step-out drill holes at its Kraken copper-nickel-cobalt project in Labrador, describing them as the first assays from its southern step-out drilling program.

The company said hole VKS26-062, drilled about 1.2 kilometres from prior drilling, intersected 40.8 metres grading 0.63% copper equivalent (CuEq), including 15.7 metres at 1.09% CuEq. A second hole, VKS26-060, drilled about 1.5 kilometres from previous drilling, intersected 23.0 metres at 0.44% CuEq, including 10.85 metres at 0.72% CuEq.

Viridian reported that both holes intersected mineralization from the top of bedrock to the end of the hole. It also noted that mineralization began immediately beneath unconsolidated overburden measuring 9.8 metres in VKS26-062 and 14.4 metres in VKS26-060.

The release cautioned that the true thickness of the reported mineralized intervals is not yet known, and that reported interval lengths represent downhole core lengths.

Drilling program context and next updates

Viridian linked the new assays to its earlier Exploration Target, which it said was built around an average mineralized thickness of 8.6 metres. In the release, President and Chief Executive Officer Tyrell Sutherland said, “We are regularly seeing intervals of 30 to 50 metres, with locally higher grades, at massive step-outs along Kraken Main.”

Viridian said assays are pending from additional southern step-out holes along a further 2.5 kilometres of Kraken Main to the south, including previously reported visually identified sulphide intervals of 41.8 metres and 47.3 metres. The company also said it has completed 27 drill holes during its 2026 exploration program, with two drill rigs extending holes VKS25-052 and VKS25-046 and both rigs expected to remain on site through the end of October.

Viridian said it anticipates reporting additional assay results about every three weeks through the end of 2026 and is targeting an updated Exploration Target in January 2027 incorporating results from the 2026 drilling program.
