Markets were little changed today as investors held steady ahead of a Federal Reserve decision, with tech strength offsetting a soft tone at home. The TSX slipped 0.06% and the TSX Venture Index dipped 0.02%, while the Dow rose 0.09% and the Nasdaq eased 0.06% after a recent run of gains. The FTSE 100 climbed 0.27%.
Oil rose 2.10% to 101.74 while gold slipped 0.26% and copper eased 0.07%. Bitcoin fell 0.50% to just above C$113,000, and the U.S. dollar held near a two-week high as traders weighed whether the Fed will hike. At home, the Bank of Canada delivered its first rate hike in three years, lifting its key rate to 2.5%, while Fed officials remain divided on how much weight to give financial conditions.
