TSX futures were flat before Monday’s market open, with investors digesting a rising consensus among economists that the Bank of Canada will leave its policy interest rate unchanged on Wednesday.

In the headlines

Montreal-based airline Air Transat (TSX:TRX) will begin curtailing operations on Monday, with a full service shutdown expected by Tuesday, after a strike notice from its 750-pilot workforce. The move follows the failure to meet a new collective agreement, despite ongoing talks since last winter, risking the potential stranding of passengers already at their destinations.

And on the large-cap side of the spectrum, a consortium backed by Brookfield Asset Management (TSX:BAM) has acquired Australia’s National Storage REIT (ASX:NSR) for A$4 billion (US$2.65 billion), representing the largest privatization of an Australian real estate firm in the country’s history.
