The TSX opened higher Thursday, climbing 1.38%, building on Wednesday’s record close. The rally was driven by strong performances in the energy and materials sectors, as gold prices soared past US$4,200 and copper continued its upward run.

In the U.S., the Dow Jones advanced 0.68%, setting another record as investors rotated toward blue-chip stocks, while the Nasdaq slipped 0.06% amid continued weakness in tech.

In corporate news, Brookfield Corp. and AtkinsRéalis both reported higher third-quarter profit and revenue compared to last year, reflecting resilience across Canada’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
