Following U.S. President Trump’s call for enhanced border security, drone companies Volatus Aerospace (TSXV:FLT) and Ondas Holdings (NASDAQ:ONDS) are partnering to offer an enhanced solution.

Under the partnership, Volatus will integrate its Surveillance-as-a-Service drone and ground-based sensor infrastructure with Ondas subsidiary American Robotics’ Optimus System, an autonomous drone platform designed for 24/7 aerial security and intelligence. The platform is the world’s first FAA-certified small unmanned aircraft system for security and data capture.

The companies will target opportunities along the 8,890-kilometer United States–Canada border, in addition to strategic markets in Africa and the United Kingdom, focusing on the offering’s dual air and ground coverage, significantly improving the probability of detecting and mitigating threats before they escalate.

According to Tuesday’s news release, Volatus and Ondas believe their collaboration addresses significant threats to national security, including illegal immigration, drug trafficking and weapons smuggling, through the full-scope nature of their combined technologies.
