Energy Plug Technologies (CSE:PLUG), SEETEL New Energy (7740.TW) and Quantum eMotion (TSXV:QNC) are developing a 261-kilowatt-hour (kWh) AC battery energy storage system designed for mission-critical environments.

The plug-and-play system, known as the MBT-SEETEL unit, will benefit from a modular design capable of delivering 135 kW of continuous power output, ensuring reliable operations from polar research stations to remote industrial sites to defense applications.

Quantum eMotion will outfit the battery system with quantum-grade cybersecurity technology to address how “the attack surface for cyber threats is expanding at an alarming rate,” according to Thursday’s news release, because of the proliferation of renewable energy and distributed storage systems.

Indigenous-owned Malahat Battery Technologies will develop the MBT-SEETEL’s energy management and power management systems, the key drivers behind unit performance and optimization.

The first units are being manufactured at SEETEL facilities in Taiwan and are slated to hit markets in Asia and the Middle East in early 2026, with North American certification expected by Q2 2026.

The partners intends to stake a claim in the more than US$50 billion global battery energy storage system market, which is expected to surpass US$100 billion by the end of this decade, catalyzed by rising demand for renewable energy, falling battery costs and electrical grid modernization.

Management commentary

“This collaboration represents a major step forward in the evolution of secure, intelligent, and resilient energy-storage solutions,” the companies noted in a joint statement. “By combining SEETEL’s manufacturing strength, Energy Plug’s system integration expertise, and Quantum eMotion’s quantum-safe cybersecurity, we are redefining what it means to deliver trusted energy infrastructure for the modern world.”
