AI stock Xtract One Technologies (TSX:XTRA) is up after confirming the installation of SmartGateway screeners at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, home of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, back in Q2 2024.

The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is “northeast Ohio’s premier sports and entertainment facility,” according to Thursday’s news release, hosting nearly 2 million patrons per year attending major attractions, concert tours, family shows and signature events, including home games of the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters and the annual Mid-American Conference men’s and women’s basketball tournament.

The venue will benefit from SmartGateway’s AI sensors, which increase throughput by up to 10 times compared with traditional metal detectors by screening patrons as they walk through the device without invading their privacy. The company’s Gateway portfolio holds the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s SAFETY Act Designation, recognizing its effectiveness for public safety.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse are part of Rock Entertainment Group, the sports and entertainment entity under Cavaliers chairman Dan Gilbert’s ROCK family of companies.

Leadership insights

“In introducing our game-changing technology to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ home court, we’re taking SmartGateway to the NBA stage and showcasing just how impactful the system can be for live event venues across the nation, including in Cleveland during this year’s playoffs,” Peter Evans, Xtract One Technologies’ chief executive officer, said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to working together with Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, and other Rocket Mortgage properties, to enhance patron protection and further elevate event experiences, particularly for the rest of this NBA season, and beyond.”

“We are dedicated to creating extraordinary experiences, all the time, for everyone,” added Matt Miller, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse’s senior vice president of facility operations. “When fans and event-goers come to our venue, we want their time to be spent enjoying the event and making memories that will last a lifetime. We’re excited to be working with Xtract One to set new standards in fan safety and further cement Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse as the premier destination in Cleveland.”
